This workshop presents dance as a spiritual practice, which can be used as a path of transformation.
We will present a process through which dancers and non-dancers alike create their own secret world through sacred movement; and then work to sustain this world throughout their day.
Students will use thoughts and visualizations of their own divinity to deepen their understanding of spiritual wisdom, while working together through the techniques of contact improvisation.
Taught by Kendra Rickert, a student and teacher of dance, yoga, and Buddhism. She has trained for years at the side of the Mother of Performance Art, Rachel Rosenthal, with yoga masters Bikram Choudhury and Dharma Mittra, and Buddhist masters Geshe Michael Roach and Lama Christie McNally. Kendra holds in-depth training in the modern techniques of Martha Graham and Merce Cunningham.
